A Collaborative Way Forward

Sanddollarcove.org is here to help facilitate a collaborative effort on the rules, regulations and self-policing of Sand Dollar Cove within Manchester By-The-Sea Harbor.

Update: 09/10/2022

The Manchester By-The-Sea Harbor Department plans to restrict access to Sand Dollar Cove by presenting its SDC agenda to the Manchester Select Board by early winter.

  • This proposal will restrict your access to Sand Dollar Cove as you anchor there today.

  • This proposal will restrict your access to the open ocean forcing boaters to pay for access to a limited number of moorings in the deeper water off Sand Dollar Cove.

  • Boaters who cannot get a mooring will be turned away and will most likely go to the surrounding Cape Ann Communities. Gloucester, Marblehead, Ipswich, Essex, Beverly, Salem and Newburyport will see increased boat traffic enjoying their rivers and beaches if this “Not in my Backyard” proposal goes through.

These local changes will cause problems for the Cape Ann Region. We respectfully ask the Harbor Department and Select Board to not restrict our ability to access and anchor at Sand Dollar Cove on these few nice days of the year.
